Yes, I was a member of the Abbey team that year and what a year it was.

I was the youngest player on the senior team.

I played left back.

I was the captain for the junior team too that year.

I still have the Gold medal I won for being the most outstanding player for the junior team that year.

Sheldon Gomes was the coach of the team that year.

The medal indicates 1968-69

Dear Angel,

Your name does not appear in the listing, are you an ALUMNI??

I shall find out about your question, I graduated in 1960 December, so your question is for younger boys.

What was your class??

Since you are soccer fan, please give me some detail on the championship that you mentioned as I would like to include it in the Circular.

God Bless

Ladislao

Hey,

You mentioned the following Ian Gomes, Morris, Neville Tenia, Zephryn and Decoteau (arguably out best footballer).

Do you remember the other team member who nearly won the championship but had to replay Hollycross and lost that final game?

Your name is not in the listing, are you an ALUMNI

We had already beaten every team but one team was disqualified and we had to replay Hollycross who had the same amount of points.

At that time Larry Gomes was playing for Hollycross.

Neville Tenia was the centre forward and an English boy as goler.

There was a Canadian, I think his name was Marcornie, playing centre back and he caused a penalty.

Larry Gomes took the shot and that was the only goal in the game.

Nice to read about the Abby

Best Regards

Hi Ladislao,

I will try and get some additional information on this for you.

At the present moment I only remember a few names. Like, Jerry Chin Cham right back, Chow right half, Coplan right wing, Salah Wilson centre with Neville, Marconi centre back, and myself left back. (That's 7 players)

We had Sheldon Gomes who was completing some courses as a day student at the Abby, coaching the team.

Wilson is in Montreal and I have sent him am e mail.

Will provide more when received.

Best Regards,

Angel

Dear Angel,

Yes I heard of the football events but I had no idea that the teams were so good.

How was the team formed, would you have the names of the 11 members?? of the gold team.

The reason I ask is because very few ALUMNI of that era are signed up in the listing.

Let us start with the sportsmen, and the football team, a short resume on the team´s activity would be nice.

Any photos??

Also please send me your telephone number as you may have ALUMNI close by your city.

God Bless

Ladislao

Hi Salah,

Something from the past to reflect on when you return from Trinidad next month.

Angel

PS Salah played on the team with Neville. They were both in the centre forward.

He now lives in Montreal and you can look him up on the net.

He is a great guy.

Dear Marlon

I have just seen the group photo that you sent to Nigel.

Please could you have it scanned or can you take a picture of it from a straight ahead position?.

I would like to include it in the Circular but I need a better resolution aprox 500kb. and eliminate the tilt.

God bless

Ladislao

Dear Marlon

Thank you for the photos.

Please could you send them in 600kb resolution???

Before you take the camera make sure the resolution is as high as it would go.

This way I can then make the colour etc. corrections.

Please keep the Circular going.

God Bless

Ladislao:

A correction to my earlier e-mail from Marlon who was kind enough to correct my aged memory with accurate information (below) and with pictures of the time.

Saludos

subject: Stanleys Den circa 1954

Ladislao

This photo was taken about 1954 at Stanleys Den up the hill from the school.

The chickens were bought from Br. Bruno at the poultry farm.

Some times they were bought as chicks at the start of term, raised then we would have a party and curry them.

It sure beat the food at the Mount.

The best curry cook was Lee Kit.

He had great knowledge about keeping and catching song birds, raising and training homing pigeons and cooking curries, which curry powder to buy ( Turban Brand ).

In the photo Jean Claude Pecquet, Alain Deveaux and Bruce Peter.

Well we have read from three of our ALUMNI, Marlon Da Silva, Bruce

Peter, and Glen Schaefer.
