Dear Friends,

MSB Old Boys (!) Committee Meeting Sun 12th July 09.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chris Knowles

Sunday, June 28, 2009 6:42:32 PM

Gentlemen,

PLEASE NOTE: The last meeting on 14th June was attended by Joe and myself only, so nothing was discussed. Also, I had very little feedback either by phone or email about who could or could not make it; that contact would have helped.

So, we try again:

A committee meeting is proposed for 7.30pm Sunday July 12th in the Members lounge at the Queens Park Cricket Club, Elizabeth Street, Port of Spain.

The Agenda is

1. To discuss the Association name,

2. To Discuss matters arising from Ladislao's recent visit, incuding Association publicity etc.

3. Any other matters.

Item One is occasioned by difficulties in obtaining permission to use 'Abbey School' in our Association name.

When you get there call me on 345 7987 so I can direct you if necessary.

I would appreciate a response so I know who will be there (or not).

As I did last time, I am copying interested non committee Old Boys.

See you there this time,

Chris.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Here I am including a mix of emails, and two class photos.

Can you help with them???

Hi Ladislao,

Yes, I am Abbey Alumni, as are four of my brothers before me, Keith (Bunny), Christopher, Allan and Dave.

I was at Abbey from 1968 (in the then newly formed Prep class) until form 5.

You will get my e-mail address from this transmission.

I have been chatting with Paul Quesnel and he thinks that the Alumni association needs support.

If we can harness the collective talents of the old boys, we are indeed a force.

Years ago, I met a gentleman in Caracas, Pedro Castro who claimed that he was an Abbey Old Boy, years b4 me and he did assist Bunny in a problem where someone stole his money in a business deal.

He also told us that the Abbey Alumni in Caracas have frequent meetings and if I have more info, I would love to visit.

Regards

Chandra

Good Morning Ladislao,

Many thanks for the circulars.

With reference to my surviving brothers, the only one reachable via e-mail would be Dave (equipus77@hotmail.com), and he basically moves between Caracas, Argentina and Colombia.

Allan is not inclined into the electronic age and Chris resides in Toronto.

Sorry that I could not be of more help.

Regards,

Chandra

Dear Chandra

I have included your brothers in the listing that I use for the Circulars

But no email address ??, please forward this to them in case you want them to receive the Circular on a regular basis.

Maybe they will send me the email address so that every week I can send them the newsletter.

God bless

Ladislao

Well thank you, Wayne,

The things, we say on this site, are unique, if you were not there, then its all nonsense.

Its so nice, to be understood, as sometimes our feelings are so hard to express, but I tried, and look at who we brought home, a true sailor, a brother, Mr. Wayne Brown, from 1955-1960.

Welcome home, and we must hear, of some of your journeys man.

I hope you don't mind?? As we are a private club, members only, I will share this little story with all my other brothers.

Also some of these brothers will know you, as some are from your time, Cheers, keep on sailing into this site any time, my brother.

Thanking you for your kind words,

Best regards

Glen McKoy.

Glen

we've never met (I was at the Mount before you); but as someone who's owned sailboats for most of my life, and have written maybe a dozen articles for the US yachting magazine Cruising World,

I have to tell you that never once would I have thought of yr simile for sailing downwind in strong wind and big seas--"like running down from White Stones and yuh late for Showers at Six"--but I know exactly what you meant.

Nice one!

Please remember in your prayers an Old Boy of the Abbey School, Earl Bonadie and his wife, Angela, who were both shot and killed by their son, Adrian in Montclair California on February 6th, 2009.

I looked at the photo and like the rest of you i recognize a few faces that have already been named, but don't remember most of the other boys.

On further reflection, I think these are two classes.

The boys behind in long pants are two or three years older than the small boys in front in short pants.

The small boys I believe are in Form 1.

I recognise the photo, but do not remember why it was taken.

Tony,

This is another one of those photos that show us at a younger age that your last query.......

I'm going to have to sit and think about this because I see Harold de Pass, kneeling in front of Mike Azar, next to Don Mitchell, then there is the Agostini boy infront of Harold.

Howard Ho front left.

A seminarian behind him then de Verteuil, Seheult, Aitken.

One of the Kerry boys (day student)......isn't that a Santos boy on Simon da Costa's right?.

Fourth to my right is Henrique Castillas (two day students to his right) You're (Tony) behind de Verteuil.........the rest is blurred

Best Regards

Eddie

Peter, what is Simon's whereabouts? Ed.

Hi Howard,

I really did my O-Levels in 1963.

However, I did not know what I wanted to do, I had failed mathematics, and I thought I should re-do the O-Levels.

As it was, I failed maths again, and did not improve the others significantly.

So, I really think of myself as graduating in 1963.

What year do you think the photo was taken?
